When I woke up this morning my quads were tight from yesterdays long run with Kory.  The first 12 miles or so were a pretty good decline so I could feel it.  I had already pre-paid for today's race as part of the city series so I decided to see what my foot could handle in a faster pace.

I ran just over 5 miles to the start line in an easy 7:28 pace.  I had some time to talk to a few people before the start and got a drink.  This course is very hilly with some good climbing the first 2 miles or so and it was a warm day with the sun shining bright.  Here are the splits:

1.  6:48  (some flat, then uphill)

2.  7:27  (all uphill)

3.  6:21  (rolling, then downhill)

4.  6:10  (downhill, then flat)

5.  6:40  (flat, then uphill)

6.  6:41  (uphill, then flat)

.2  1:19 (6:35 pace)

I finished in 6th place overall and did not push really hard, especially after yesterday's run.  I feel good about the splits and my foot is just fine.  I ran back home to get in 16.27 miles for the day.

Great job. You're crazy to run so much a day before a race. At least in my not so expert opinion.

Glad the foot is feeling ok. Nice job at the race!
